2020 gave us some phenomenal performances to rejuvenate. Some actors hit the ball out of the park with their effortless performances. They brought their characters alive and outshone in their respective projects. So, let’s go down the memory lane and pick the best five actors who ruled our hearts in 2020.

It wouldn’t be wrong to call Imran Ashraf a method actor. He is one actor from the current generation who does everything perfectly. He acts, yes, he really does! He also writes well. Imran’s passion for his craft is known to all with the diverse choices he makes. He has time and again proved that he is not just about (Bhola). The actor donned a different avatar every time he appeared on screen; be it Zaid from Jaal, Rehan Chaudhry from Inkaar, Zeeshan from Kahin Deep Jalay, Adam from Mushk to Moosa from Raqs-e-Bismil. Look at his astonishing range; is there any character he can’t play?

In ‘Mushk’, he plays (Adam) a true gentleman who stands rock solid with his lady love in every scenario. Adam depicts poise, elegance and brings back the old-world charm. It’s a layered character, brimming emotions and passion for what it means to be human. As a writer, one must applaud Ashraf for doing a tremendous job in setting a splendid plot and writing impactful dialogues. Watching (Adam) in ‘Mushk’ is like watching a portrait being done.

One can’t ignore the star power of Mohib Mirza. Despite returning to television after two years, the actor impressed one and all with a stellar comeback in Dushman-e-Jaan. He silenced his critics; and proved that absence is temporary, but class is permanent. Viewers were mesmerized by Mirza’s portrayal as (Hatim) giving us a wholesome sense of a multi-layered character; from a neglected child; to an angry adolescent to a vulnerable man entrenched by his rage. His wonderfully calibrated performance was pitch-perfect. The actor made a meal of his part; his smoldering eyes emoted effortlessly. The dilemma of emotional turmoil was brilliantly displayed by Mirza in this act.

The talented actor stunned the viewers by playing (Abdullah) in ‘Pyar Ke Sadqay’. His portrayal of a geeky, nerdy, and socially awkward guy was unanimously praised by viewers and critics alike. He has dared to illustrate a character that many mainstream actors would think twice before implementing. Without the use of the conventional over the top dialogues, lavish apparels, and macho look; he stunned in every single frame. Just four years into the business and look at his wide range of playing diversified characters. The triumph of ‘Pyar Ke Sadqay’ successfully puts Bilal in the league of next level of actors.

Gohar Rasheed is the dark horse of the showbiz industry. His strong acting chops and magnetic presence makes him stand out. His act as (Ismail) in Raaz-e-Ulfat was pure and organic. An obedient and loyal man despite being surrounded by personnel crisis stands by his loved ones through thick and thin. His on-screen chemistry with Yumna and her family lighted up the screen. Stealing the show in almost every scene and that too in a multi starrer is no mean achievement. All in all, he was excellent, sincere, and showed immense growth as an actor.

He doesn’t need to try hard; his presence in a project is enough to get success followed by highest TRP’s. Faysal is like old wine, getting better with age. In ‘Muqaddar’ viewers were amazed by the way Faysal portrayed a complex character of a feudal tycoon (Sardar Saif-ur-Rehman) that left a huge impact all across. With such powerful acts, he proves that he is the actor of all seasons.
